Citrexa

CitrexaYou have probably seen ads on TV claiming to offer a miracle drug that can do it all. Of course they have the before and after pictures and charts showing “clinical “studies.” You may even have a doctor who recommends the product. Citrexa is one of those products. By simply looking at the official website of Citrexa, we can tell you it looks like a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Citrexa is a weight loss supplement that is designed to regulate specific hormone levels. The makers claim to use no stimulants, diuretics or harmful ingredients. Let’s break down Citrexa to see just how effective it is.

Under the Hood

After much researching and digging around, we were able to find that Citrexa contains one active ingredient, which isn’t always a bad thing. Unfortunately, the official website doesn’t even disclose the name of the ingredient so we had to do some more digging. It turns out the only active ingredient in Citrexa is called Acacia, a group of shrub and tree species that are mainly found in Australia and tropical Asia.

Not much is known about Acacai in the weight loss world, but Citrexa claims that it can regulate the production of the hormone leptin and increase another hormone, adiponectin. Leptin has been a highly researched and very popular hormone due to its weight loss characteristics. Trying to explain leptin is difficult because it seems contradictory. Essentially, leptin is what tells the brain that it is full, so the more leptin, the smaller our appetite, right? Not so much. Increased levels of leptin cause a higher resistency to the hormone which makes us eat more to feel full. So in a nutshell, you don’t in fact want too much leptin.

Citrexa claims to reduce leptin and increase adiponectin. Adiponectin supposedly has the same appetite suppressing effects as leptin without the same resistance from the body. Adiponectin and leptin have only recently been discovered as weight loss hormones and very few tests have been done to prove anything.

What We Think

Because very few tests have been done on leptin and adiponectin, it is hard to determine if their effects are truly beneficial. The real downside to Citrexa is that the ingredient Acacai has hardly even been tested and there is no official proof that we could find showing any relations between Acacai and leptin or adiponectin (which may be why the website doesn’t disclose the ingredient).

Citrexa does come with a 30 day money-back guarantee but the makers also claim you can lose up to 20 pounds in just 8 weeks. Therefore, you may not see results until after the trial period but do you really want to take the chance? You can try the product out for $19.95, but the fine print states that you will be charged an extra $40.00 after 21 days. That is too steep a price for us to recommend this very questionable product.
